Bloggy Tour of Homes

All southern girls love home tours. We want to know how everyone lives, how they decorate, what their favorite colors are. And Boomama has graciously set us up to find out, with her Tour of Homes today.

I wasn't sure if we could participate, since we live in our RV, but sweet, hospitable dear that she is, Boomama said sure! So here we are.

We have been living in this RV for about two and a half years. It's very cozy. Sometimes, it is a little crowded, like when we have company.

But for just the two of us, it's fine. We have a tiny kitchen, a tiny bath, a tiny bedroom--just enough room to walk sideways down beside the bed and get into bed, or open the closet door.

When we lived in a house, Frankie had a crate to sleep in. But there is no room for the crate here, so he sleeps wherever he wants to, which is mostly with us.
The only problem with the bedroom picture is that it is not mine. For some reason, blogger is being uncooperative, and I can't seem to upload my own, but it let me upload this one from the web. The differences are:
1. Wrong colors. Our bedroom is a soft sage green and beige plaid.
2. Too clean. My bedroom is always cluttered with craft stuff, yarn, fabric, or clean laundry.
3. No books. My night stand is always loaded with a stack of books waiting to be read.

Other than than, it's exactly like mine.

The things I miss most about living in an RV instead of a house?
Having room for all our family to gather.
Decorating for Christmas.
So I'm posting a few pictures from previous Christmases. The top and bottom ones are at my mother's house. The one in the middle is at the house we lived in before we started RVing full time. Top: Wick and me. Middle: me. Bottom: my mother with some of her great grand children (several of them are our grandchildren. The others belong to my sister).

Blogger has been terrible lately where uploading pictures is concerned...I ended up making a slideshow for my Tour of Homes post! lol What a beautiful RV you have and although I can imagine how much you miss having a house and room for lots of company, it's still fun to be able to travel wherever and whenever you want...in your home:-) Thank you for sharing!!

How cool that you live in an RV! I've loved seeing everyone's home, and yours is cool b/c it's so different! Have you read Lisa Whelchel's blog? They traveled the entire US in an RV a few years ago. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Jan, and thanks for sharing your home with us. Love Frankie, too! :-)

Jan, thanks for sharing a look at your RV. And, I got to see what you and hubby look like. Glad everything is working out for you guys. (I just read your post about shopping at Home Depot in one of their electric carts -- which I also use when shopping because of bad knees. How funny because the same thing happens to me. Must be a woman thing.) Hope you have a great weekend.

I just love the idea of living in an RV!! We have six kids, so our pull behind camper is pretty tight -- especially if we planned to LIVE there all year round... but... what a FUN place to live - everywhere!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures!!
Blessings!! :o)

I'm so glad you decided to give us a tour! So do y'all just drive all over all the time? I think I'd go a little crazy in an RV with all my kids - sometimes I feel like our house isn't big enough for all of us!

But when it's just Pastormac and me someday, taking to the road sounds like fun!

You just prove the point that home isn't the structure, it's the people who are there with you!

how fun!
And a great way to not have too much STUFF! :)
So you have a spot of land to call your own, as your home base, and you travel from there?
thanks for giving us your tour!

Hi Jan - I'm always interested in the lives of people who live 'on the road'. Certainly a different lifestyle to those of us who live on a quarter acre block.

Your profile really struck a chord with me when you mentioned that you write stories. Although I haven't yet traced my family tree, I'm very into writing and reading family histories.

You'll probably laugh at this but I could EASILY live in this RV. One of my favorite things to spend Saturday doing is going to RV dealers and just drooling over how gorgeous they are. This is great!

This is my first visit to your blog and all I have read is "About Me" and the tour of your home. But I will be returning to read some of your previous and/or future blogs. My family traveled and sang gospel music full-time for almost 5 years and we lived in our Silver Eagle bus. Now we are interested in acquiring a RV so that we can visit our grandchildren and friends we have made in the past. Look forward to blogging with you. Love your RV too!

What a lovely home. It must be so fun to just 'get up and go, whenever you want. I wish I could do that.
I have thought about selling my home and buying a motor home and parking it at a different kids house until I'm tired of them then go to another one. Maybe I will!

Cool-an RV home. I guess you travel all over the place. What an interesting lifestyle. Thanks for the tour. : )

How cool! I've always teased my kids that as soon as the last one graduates, hubby and I are getting an RV and hitting the road. Now I can show them this to prove it can be done! Thanks for opening up your RV for the tour! What an adventure!

My parents just purchased an RV for when they must travel and work for FEMA. They love that it is their home away from home.

Thanks for sharing your great traveling home with us.
